A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas. Coastal Waters from Cape Charles Light to Virginia-North Carolina border out to 20 nm. Currituck Sound. Waters from Cape Charles Light to Virginia - North Carolina Border from 20 to 40 nm. At 914 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Rudee Inlet, moving east at 40 knots.

At 858 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Norfolk State University, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD. Wind gusts up to 40 mph, pea size hail, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Reduced visibility and minor flooding possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. This strong thunderstorm will be near. Virginia Beach, Regent University, Kempsville, Norfolk, and Chesapeake around 905 PM EDT. Princess Anne around 915 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this storm include South Norfolk, Rudee Heights, Portlock, Mount Pleasant, Princess Anne Plaza, Sigma, Sandbridge Beach, Herberts Corner, Oceana NAS, and Macons Corner.
