FFWAKQ The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for. The City of Hampton in southeastern Virginia. The Southern City of Newport News in southeastern Virginia. The Southeastern City of Poquoson in southeastern Virginia. * Until 1145 PM EDT. * At 942 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen in the past 30 minutes. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 1.5 inches in 30 minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include. Newport News, Hampton, Hampton University, Langley AFB, Northampton, Fort Monroe, Buckroe Beach, Grand View, Langley View, Raleigh Terrace, Phoebus, Messick, Fox Hill, Plum Tree Island Refuge and Hilton Village.
