For the Coastal Flood Statement, areas near the Chesapeake Bay may see nuisance tidal flooding in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways this evening. * WHERE. Virginia Beach. * WHEN. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through Monday evening. For the Coastal Flood Statement, until 11 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS. Shallow flooding is possible in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide.

Recent observations and traffic cameras show fog developing over inland portions of Virginia. Currently, the lowest visibilities are from I-95 and points to the west. Fog is expected to expand further and become more widespread closer to sunrise with visibilities between a quarter and one half mile. Visibilities could drop below a quarter mile at times. Motorists should be alert for sudden changes in visibility due to the areas of dense fog. Drive at reduced speeds. watch for children at school bus stops. and use low beam headlights only.
