Satellite and surface observations show areas of fog with reduced visibility across southern Virginia and inland portions of northeast North Carolina. Visibility may drop below 1/2 to 1/4 mile at times. Conditions should start to improve after sunrise. Motorists should be alert for sudden changes in visibility due to the areas of dense fog. Slow down, use low-beams headlights, and account for extra time to reach your destination safely this morning.

Regional observations, satellite imagery, and local traffic cameras show mostly patchy fog across the northern Coastal Plain and portion of the northeast Piedmont this morning. Visibilities of less than 1 mile will be most common, but quick reductions to 1/4 mile or less will be possible through 9 AM. Take extra caution especially on high speed interstates such as I-95 and I-85 through the affected areas. Slow down, use low-beams headlights, and account for extra time to reach your destination safely this morning.

* WHAT. Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE. Pasquotank, Camden, Western Currituck, Chowan and Perquimans Counties near the Albemarle and Currituck Sounds. * WHEN. Until 10 AM EDT this morning. * IMPACTS. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
