A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas. Coastal Waters from Cape Charles Light to Virginia-North Carolina border out to 20 nm. Coastal waters from NC VA border to Currituck Beach Light NC out 20 nm. Currituck Sound. At 1023 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 25 knots and torrential downpours which could briefly reduce visibility to less than one half nautical mile. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 nm southwest of Sandbridge to 9 nm southwest of Knotts Island Bay to 9 nm southwest of Currituck Sound, moving northeast at 20 knots.
