At 1046 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Elberon to near Carrsville to near Como. Movement was northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD. Wind gusts up to 40 mph, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Reduced visibility and minor flooding possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Locations impacted include. Newport News, Hampton, Smithfield, Windsor, Wakefield, Surry, Langley AFB, Ocean View, Gloucester Point, Deep Creek, Downtown Portsmouth, Churchland, Norfolk State University, Virginia Institute For Marine Sciences, Hampton University, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, Downtown Norfolk, Patrick Henry Field, and Downtown Suffolk.
