SMWAKQ The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Chesapeake Bay from New Point Comfort to Little Creek VA. Chesapeake Bay from Windmill Point to New Point Comfort VA. York River. * Until 515 PM EDT. * At 339 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Mobjack Bay to near Coleman Bridge to 8 nm west of Poquoson, moving east at 20 knots. HAZARD. Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Severe thunderstorms will be near. Tue Marshes Light, Mobjack Bay, and Poquoson around 345 PM EDT. New Point Comfort around 350 PM EDT. Gwynns Island and York Spit Reef around 355 PM EDT. Wolf Trap around 405 PM EDT. Hole In The Wall around 415 PM EDT. The Hump around 420 PM EDT. The Cell and Buoy 36a around 425 PM EDT. Plantation Light, Cape Charles Harbor, and Cherrystone Reef around 430 PM EDT.

Portions of central, east central, eastern, south central, and southeast Virginia, including the following areas, in central Virginia, Amelia, Eastern Chesterfield (Including Col. Heights), Eastern Hanover, Eastern Henrico, Western Chesterfield and Western Henrico (Including the City of Richmond). In east central Virginia, Charles City, Eastern King William, Eastern King and Queen and New Kent. In eastern Virginia, Lancaster, Mathews and Middlesex. In south central Virginia, Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway and Prince George. In southeast Virginia, Chesapeake, Gloucester, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York. * WHEN. Until 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall this afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates may approach 2 to 3 inches per hour, which could lead to areas of flash flooding. The greatest threat is expected in urban or flood-prone locations. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
