SMWAKQ The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Chesapeake Bay from New Point Comfort to Little Creek VA. York River. * Until 1130 AM EDT. * At 1026 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located near Mobjack Bay. The severe thunderstorm was nearly stationary. HAZARD. Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include. New Point Comfort, Mobjack Bay, and York Spit Reef.

Heights), Eastern Hanover, Eastern Henrico, Western Chesterfield and Western Henrico (Including the City of Richmond). In east central Virginia, Charles City, Eastern King William, Eastern King and Queen and New Kent. In eastern Virginia, Lancaster, Mathews and Middlesex. In south central Virginia, Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway and Prince George. In southeast Virginia, Chesapeake, Gloucester, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York. * WHEN. Through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall from this morning through most of today. Rainfall rates may approach 2 to 3 inches per hour, which could lead to areas of flash flooding. The greatest threat is expected in urban or flood-prone locations.
