Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck and Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. * WHEN. Through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Deep moisture across eastern Virginia and northeast North Carolina combined with a stalled cold front will lead to the potential for heavy rainfall today into this evening across Hampton Roads and parts of northeast North Carolina. FFWAKQ The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for. The Northwestern City of Chesapeake in southeastern Virginia. The City of Norfolk in southeastern Virginia. The City of Portsmouth in southeastern Virginia. The Northwestern City of Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia. * Until 515 PM EDT. * At 215 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include.
