Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Roanoke River at Roanoke. * WHEN. Until late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS. At 11.0 feet, Wiley Drive at the railroad underpass near Crystal Springs Avenue is flooded. At 14.0 feet, Jefferson Street at Belleview Avenue near Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital begins to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 9:20 PM EDT Friday the stage was 13.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:20 PM EDT Friday was 13.2 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.3 feet just after midnight tonight. * WHAT. Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. Portions of southwest and west central Virginia, including the following counties, in southwest Virginia, Craig. In west central Virginia, Botetourt. * WHEN. Until 245 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 841 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Buchanan, Troutville, New Castle, Oriskany, Eagle Rock, Paint Bank and Sinking Creek. - Flooding will continue along Craig Creek. At Camp Easter Seals minor flooding was occurring. Until 900 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings may be inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 857 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms, though rainfall has ended. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. FFWRNK The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for. Carroll County in southwestern Virginia. Wythe County in southwestern Virginia. The City of Galax in southwestern Virginia. * Until 900 AM EDT Saturday. * At 712 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that rainfall has exited the area. However, runoff from between 6 and 9 inches of rain that fell earlier today continues to collect in area rivers, and will cause rapid rises through the evening. Several roads have been damaged by intense flooding, with some areas completely flooded. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Wythe and Carroll Counties. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD. Life threatening rapid river rises. SOURCE. Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. REMAIN AT HIGHER GROUND! Life threatening flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include. Wytheville. Galax. Hillsville. Rural Retreat. Patterson. Max Meadows. Fancy Gap. This includes the following streams and drainages.
