* WHAT. Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE. A portion of east Tennessee, including the following counties, Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington. * WHEN. Until 400 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water to recede from creeks and streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 951 AM EDT, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Johnson City, Elizabethton, Erwin, Mountain City, Hampton, Central, Pine Crest, Oak Grove, Banner Hill, Spurgeon, Unicoi, Watauga, Hunter, Roan Mountain, Roane Mountain State Park, Elk Mills, Sadie, Milligan College, Limestone Cove and Hampton Creek Cove State Park. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

FFWMRX The National Weather Service in Morristown has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for. A Dam Break on the Nolichucky River below Nolichucky Dam in. North Central Cocke County in east Tennessee. Southwestern Greene County in east Tennessee. Southeastern Hamblen County in east Tennessee. * Until 400 PM EDT. * At 1136 AM EDT, dam operators reported excessive water flow over the Nolichucky Dam. The risk of a dam failure remains imminent, which would cause flash flooding downstream on the Nolichucky River. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for towns and cities immediately below Nolichucky Dam on the Nolichucky River. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD. Life threatening flash flooding from the imminent breach may occur downstream of Nolichucky Dam. SOURCE. Dam operator. IMPACT. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! IMMEDIATE EVACUATION for areas downstream from the Nolichucky Dam along the Nolichucky River. * The nearest downstream town is rural areas in southwest Greene County, located downstream from the dam. If a complete failure of the dam occurs. The initial flood wave will reach the West Allens Bridge Road bridge in 20 minutes; The Highway 321 bridge in 30 minutes; The Bewleys Chapel Road bridge in 2 hours; The Briar Thicket Road bridge in 3 hours; The Highway 160 bridge in 4 hours; Douglas Lake in 6 hours. Crests will occur at each location later than the initial arrival time of the flood wave. Flooding is occurring along the Nolichucky River.

Nolichucky River At Embreeville TN affecting Unicoi, Washington and Greene Counties. . The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Tennessee. Pigeon River At Newport TN affecting Cocke County. For the French Broad River. including Newport TN. Moderate flooding is forecast. For the Nolichucky River. including Embreeville TN. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Major flooding may still be occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Nolichucky River at Embreeville TN. * WHEN. Until late tonight. * IMPACTS. At 18.0 feet, Water might threaten the lowest of a row of riverside homes along Bumpus Cove Road a half mile upstream from the bridge. Flows this high contain increasing uncertainty as to how the gauge readings downstream near the bridge are reflective of stream heights and impacts along Bumpus Cove Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 11:15 AM EDT Friday the stage was estimated to be in excess of 20 feet. - Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet. - Forecast.
