Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

The areas affected include. Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM. Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 NM. Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point NY out 40 NM. At 751 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 nm east of Buoy 44017 to 9 nm east of Entrance to New York Harbor, moving east at 40 knots.

Coastal and outer waters from Sandy Hook to Little Egg Inlet NJ. * Until 845 PM EDT. * At 648 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 8 nm south of Cliffwood Beach, moving southeast at 25 knots. HAZARD. Wind gusts to 40 knots and small hail. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include. Sea Girt Reef, Leonardo, Shark River Reef, Point Pleasant Beach, Belmar, Atlantic Highlands, Manasquan Inlet, Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright, Axel Carlson Reef, Sandy Hook Reef, and Fair Haven.
