NEAR-CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA WEDNESDAY. .Wednesday looks very similar to Monday in terms of relative humidity and wind speeds with RH dropping into the teens and winds gusting to 30mph across portions of western to southern Minnesota. RH will remain below 30 percent across most of the MPX CWA, however the strongest winds will favor especially southern Minnesota as a system passes to the south. Unlike Monday, there is not expected to be a frontal boundary moving through which should keep winds more consistent in direction during the afternoon and evening, favoring southerly to southwesterly. Winds will still be the limiting factor with sustained winds of 15-20mph gusting frequently to 25mph and the question remaining how often at or above 30mph. The counties outside of the Watch will still have elevated conditions due to low relative humidity, with greater uncertainty as to the strength of the winds and timing of strongest winds with time of day such that there is less confidence to include at this time. The National Weather Service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. * AFFECTED AREA. For Stevens, Pope, Stearns, Meeker, Kandiyohi, Swift, Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, Yellow Medicine, Renville, McLeod, Sibley, Redwood, Brown, Nicollet, Blue Earth, Watonwan, Martin, and Faribault counties. * WIND. South to Southwest 15-20 mph with gusts 25-30 mph. * HUMIDITY. As low as 18 percent. * IMPACTS. any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
